Script That Can Keep My Computer From Accessing Sites That Waste My Time When I Should Be Working?

I realize the irony of posting this on Yahoo Answers when I should be working, but I hope this leads to a solution that helps me get more work done. I’m partly self-employed and the nature of my self-employment tasks involves a lot of online research and answering of queries from various people. However, it gets just way too easy to log on to a new site for “just a second” and then that second becomes half an hour. Is there any sort of script or command I could run that would allow certain sites (like Yahoo News, CNN.com, etc.) to be blocked on my browser, or at least make it where I get annoyed enough that I can’t waste time that I stop wasting time and get back to work?
