The Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) Handbook offers a synthesis of the research findings in a useful and understandable format for policy makers, municipalities and other entities that consider variable rate pricing as an option in urban management and planning.
The Handbook is 200 pages and is in English. Information is offered at a cascade level from 
very general to very detailed to meet the needs of the different interest groups. Many of the conclusions are backed from associated studies on PAYT related aspects such as the current charging situations and waste separation potentials done in a local context.
The Handbook together with the results dealing with aspects related to local feasibility and program design helps especially in countries which either showed to have a vivid interest to give PAYT a trial in the frame of pilot projects or were on the verge of adopting such scheme.
